Strawberry fields forever.
The Thanksgiving horn of plenty overflows with an arrangement of dishes made from seasonal fruits and vegetables. A smorgasbord of sweet potatoes and squash, brussels sprouts and broccoli, carrots, cabbage, and corn all some way or another find their way into our plates on Thanksgiving Day. At Sweet Berry Farm in Marble Falls, another fruit is making its Turkey Day debut: the strawberry. [Featured image: @sweetberryfarm]
Texas, in all of its greatness and majesty, just doesn’t quite comprehend the concept of fall. Perhaps this is what lead to the arrival of an untimely strawberry harvest at Sweet Berry Farm.
“Well well well…. look what we have here…. STRAWBERRIES,” the farm wrote in an Instagram post. “That’s right, we have a variety that is producing some ripe fruit right now. Not usual for this time of year, but the absence of freezing weather has provided us with some great berries out in the field waiting for you to pick!”
For $2.89 per pound, locals can fill their baskets with the November crop of strawberries from now until the weekend’s end – including Thanksgiving Day.
Across the 60-acre farm, Sweetberry is offering a cornucopia of seasonal attractions as a part of their Harvest of Fall Fun Festival for all ages. Activities include, but are not limited to: hayrides, pumpkin painting, scarecrow stuffing, face painting, flower picking, sand art, train rides, pony rides, and pumpkin grills on weekends. The farm is also home to a Texas-shaped (and Texas-sized) corn maze.
Sweet Berry Farm is located at 1801 FM1980 in Marble Falls and is open from 8:30 am – 5:30 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and 11 am – 5 pm on Sundays.
