This Fruity Portland-Based Ice Cream Parlor Is Coming To Austin • Zeds Real Fruit Ice Cream

Zeds Real Fruit Ice Cream is slated to open just in time for the summer heat!

Not all of state capital’s imports are coming from California. In a refreshing change of pace, Austin will become the new home of Portland-based Zeds Real Fruit Ice Cream, which hopes to open up shop this spring in East Austin. [Featured image: @zedsicecream]

Zeds is a Portland twist on traditional New Zealand real fruit ice cream. Their process, essentially, is mixing fresh fruit such as strawberries, mango, pineapple, and blueberries, with vanilla ice cream in a special machine. The result, is a refreshing blend of fruity soft serve ice cream.

The company started off as an ice cream van back 2016 on Hawthorne Boulevard in Portland. After a few years kicking about the Oregon Zoo, the company has decided to expand with a brick-and-mortar shop here in Austin:

“We are currently building out a brick and mortar location on the east side of town,” Zeds wrote in an Instagram post. “But, even before that, we will be rolling out a Zeds trailer to give everyone a little taste! Lots of details to come. So, y’all stay posted… we’re looking forward to sharing that same Zeds love and community, Texas-style.”

Zeds aims to open up at Harvey and MLK this spring. According a video recently posted on its Instagram account, their brick-and-mortar will feature both indoor and outdoor seating as well as a walk-up pick-up window.
