Austin might be famous for its roots in country and blues, but jazz quietly left its mark too—shaped by the city’s Black communities and a raw, authentic sound. Led by icons like Austin-born trumpeter Kenny Dorham, a bebop pioneer, and tenor sax great Arnett Cobb, known as the “Wild Man of the Tenor Sax,” this scene helped define the city’s musical soul. Now, The Jazz Room in Austin is celebrating jazz’s rich legacy.
At Antone’s Nightclub, the setting will be designed to immerse you into 1920s New Orleans, where musicians take to the stage to honor both jazz’s historic roots and noteworthy sound.
