Cedar Park residents are in for a treat, a rather large treat, that is. Round Rock Donuts, a mainstay in the area since 1926, is gearing up to bring their hand-rolled, cut, fried, and iced donuts to a new local.
In records obtained by the Williamson Reporter, the iconic donut hole in Round Rock has applied has applied “for a permit to construct a ‘6000 SF bakery with exterior walk-up and drive-thru ordering’ at 1614 E Whitestone Blvd. in Cedar Park near Holiday Inn Express and Dos Salsas.”
The bakery has yet to release an official statement about the anticipated date, but fingers crossed its sooner rather than later.
Round Rock Donuts first opened under the name Lonestar Bakery in 1926. Over time, the confectionary underwent a series of ownership changes. In 1978, Jan and Dale Cohrs purchased the bakery, and have run it since that time.
In 1965, Texas Monthly writer, Richard West named the Round Rock Doughnut as the best donut in the state.
