Austin City Limits is commemorating its 20th anniversary with performances from Erykah Badu, Stevie Nicks, and Meghan Thee Stallion.
Early Thursday afternoon, Austin City Limits announced the ACL 2021 lineup for the two-weekend festival this October. Scheduled for the weekend of October 1-3, 8-10 this year, featured performances are set to include pop superstars, country royalty, and a handful of indie acts.
It was no surprise last year when officials canceled Austin City Limits – or rather, turned it into a virtual event. By that time, innumerable other festivals had done the same, including SXSW, or otherwise been postponed, or canceled outright. Earlier this February, however, it was a bit of a surprise to get the announcement that ACL would return this year.
“We can’t wait to see you Oct. 1-3 and 8-10, 2021 back in Zilker Park,” the ACL website reads.
According to Austin Monitor, in 2019 the festival garnered an attendance of 75,000 people each day of the event, totaling to at least 400,000 over the course of the festival. According to the Austin City Limits Music Festival 2019 Economic Impact Report, the festival brought in $291 million to the city economy, creating at least 1,500 jobs throughout the city.
This year, the festival is commemorating its 20th anniversary. Despite this, some would say their headlining acts leave room to be desired. Under card highlights for ACL 2021 include St. Vincent, Modest Mouse, Doja Cat, Band of Horses, Freddie Gibbs, Future Islands, Tierra Whack, Dayglow, and Kennyhoopla.
In addition to music, the festival is also reprising its ACL Eats Food Court with a variety of festival eats from foods trucks and other local eateries. Other staples of the festival will also be available, such as the mini-fest for kids, bountiful photo-ops, and more.
Tickets go on sale at noon on Thursday, May 20. American Express Card Member Presale ticket prices range from $275 for three-day general admission to $3800 for a pampered Platinum service that include among other things, spa treatments, golf cart transportation, and complimentary wifi.
